Description
Madder is one of the oldest and most reliable red dyes in the world. The color comes from alizarin in the root, which bonds strongly to mordanted fiber and holds its shade through repeated washing and sunlight. Protein fibers like wool and silk give richer reds; cotton and linen lean toward warm rust. Keep the bath below 180F to protect the red tones. Not for human or animal consumption.
