Our story
The Dye Store exists because dyeing is a craft where small details change everything, and
most suppliers leave you to work those details out alone.
The same madder root gives coral pink or deep brick red depending on your mordant, your water and your temperature. Turmeric looks brilliant on day one and fades by summer. Cotton needs a step that wool does not. None of this is difficult once you know it, and all of it is frustrating when you don’t.
So we built a shop where the information sits next to the product. Every listing tells you the color range you can expect, which fibers it works on, which mordant to pair it with, how much to use and how to handle it safely. Then we back it up with videos, tutorials and guides, free to anyone who wants them.
What we sell
Plant-based natural dyes, synthetic and fiber reactive dyes, tie-dye and ice-dye kits, mordants and fixatives, safety equipment, and natural fiber blanks ready to take color. Dyes come in 50 g, 100 g and 250 g so you can test a shade before committing to a batch.
What we believe
- Color should be honest. We show the range a dye actually produces, not one perfect photograph taken under ideal conditions.
- Knowledge should be free. Our guides and videos cost nothing and need no account.
- Safety is not optional. Dye powders are fine dusts and deserve respect. We say so on every listing.
- Small batches matter. A first-time dyer buying 50 g gets the same information as a studio buying in bulk.
