Start your dye project with a white cotton blank

Choose a dye-ready white T-shirt as the starting point for tie-dye, ice dye or another compatible textile dyeing method. Our current blank-shirt collection features a 100% ring-spun cotton T-shirt. Open the product page to review available sizes, garment details and stock before choosing your blank.

Fiber content matters when selecting dyes. Cotton is commonly used with suitable fiber reactive dye methods; natural dyes require their own preparation and may need a fiber-specific mordant process. Sewing thread, labels and other garment components can respond differently from the main fabric, even when the shirt body is cotton.

Prewash according to the garment and dye instructions, avoid fabric softener during preparation and weigh the shirt dry if your recipe uses weight of fiber. Plan enough space for soaking, rinsing and drying. Test your method before making a matching set or a gift where consistent results are essential.

Browse textile reactive colors for your palette, or explore natural dyes for a different approach. Check the Learning Center for folding and dyeing guides, and gather suitable protective equipment. This category currently centers on shirts; check individual listings rather than assuming fabric yardage is available.
