Terms and Conditions
Last Updated: September 20, 2026
Welcome to The Dye Store. These Terms and Conditions apply to your use of TheDyeStore.com and purchases made through our website. By using our website or placing an order, you agree to these Terms and Conditions.
1. About The Dye Store
The Dye Store is a Michigan-based retailer specializing in natural dyes, fiber-reactive dyes, mordants and fixatives, dyeing supplies, kits, protective equipment, fabrics, craft supplies, and related products.
We currently ship to addresses within the United States.
2. Orders and Order Acceptance
Submitting an order through our website constitutes an offer to purchase the products included in your order.
An automated order confirmation confirms that we received your order but does not necessarily constitute final acceptance or guarantee that the order will be fulfilled.
The Dye Store reserves the right to refuse, limit, or cancel an order for reasonable business purposes, including product availability, inventory or pricing errors, payment authorization problems, suspected fraud, shipping restrictions, or when fulfilling an order would violate applicable law.
If we cancel an order after payment has been collected, we will issue an appropriate refund for the canceled products.
3. Pricing and Payment
All prices are stated in U.S. dollars unless otherwise indicated.
Applicable sales tax, shipping charges, and other applicable charges are calculated and displayed during checkout.
Payment must be successfully authorized before an order is shipped.
We make reasonable efforts to keep our pricing and product information accurate. Occasionally, however, typographical, technical, pricing, or inventory errors may occur.
If an error affects your order, we reserve the right to correct it before shipment. If a correction would increase the amount you are charged, we will contact you before proceeding.
4. Product Information
We work to provide accurate and useful descriptions of our products, including their characteristics, applications, compatible materials, and expected results.
Because dyeing involves many variables, actual results may differ from photographs, examples, or samples shown on our website.
Results can be affected by factors including fiber content, fabric preparation, water chemistry, dye concentration, mordants or fixatives, temperature, processing time, application technique, washing, and finishing methods.
Natural dyes may also vary naturally between plants, growing regions, harvests, processing methods, and individual production batches.
Colors displayed on computer monitors and mobile devices can also vary.
For these reasons, colors shown on our website are intended as a guide rather than a guarantee of an exact finished color.
We recommend testing a product on a small sample before beginning an important or large project.
5. Product Safety and Responsible Use
Customers are responsible for reading and following product labels, instructions, warnings, and available safety information.
Dyes and related botanical, chemical, and powdered materials should be handled using appropriate precautions for the particular product and application.
Products labeled as not intended for human or animal consumption should never be consumed by people or animals.
When appropriate, use suitable personal protective equipment such as gloves, eye protection, protective clothing, and respiratory protection. Avoid inhaling powdered materials and use adequate ventilation when appropriate.
Products should be stored securely and kept away from children and animals.
Tools, utensils, or equipment used with dyes, mordants, or similar materials should not subsequently be used for food preparation when contamination could occur.
Customers are responsible for selecting products appropriate for their intended application and using them responsibly, safely, and in accordance with applicable laws.
6. Order Processing
Orders are normally processed and dispatched within two (2) business days after successful payment authorization.
Business days do not include weekends or applicable holidays.
There may occasionally be circumstances that require additional processing time, including unusually high order volume, inventory issues, severe weather, service interruptions, or other circumstances outside our reasonable control.
7. Shipping and Delivery
We currently ship within the United States.
Available shipping methods and applicable shipping charges are displayed during checkout where available.
Estimated delivery dates and carrier transit times are estimates rather than guarantees unless specifically stated otherwise.
Once an order has been provided to the shipping carrier, delivery may be affected by weather, carrier delays, transportation interruptions, or other circumstances outside our reasonable control.
Customers are responsible for providing a complete and accurate shipping address.
If a package is returned because an incorrect or incomplete address was provided, additional shipping charges may apply before the order is resent.
8. Returns
We want you to be satisfied with your purchase.
Unopened products in their original packaging may be returned within fourteen (14) days of delivery.
Returned products must be unused, unopened, and in resalable condition.
Unless an item arrived damaged, defective, or incorrect, the customer is responsible for return shipping costs.
Please contact The Dye Store before sending a return so we can provide the appropriate return instructions.
9. Opened and Used Products
Because dyes, mordants, powders, and similar materials can become contaminated or altered after opening, opened or partially used consumable products generally cannot be returned.
Products that have been used, altered, contaminated, or damaged after delivery may also be ineligible for return unless the product was defective or applicable law requires otherwise.
10. Damaged, Defective, or Incorrect Orders
If your order arrives damaged, defective, or contains an incorrect item, please contact us within 7 days of delivery.
Please provide your order number and, when appropriate, photographs showing the product, packaging, or issue.
After reviewing the situation, we may provide a replacement, refund, or other appropriate resolution.
Please retain damaged products and packaging until the issue has been resolved if we ask you to do so.
11. Refunds
Approved refunds are processed within 48 hours of approval and issued to the original payment method.
After we issue a refund, the amount of time required for it to appear in your account depends on your bank, credit-card issuer, or payment provider.
Original shipping charges and return shipping costs may be non-refundable unless the return resulted from an error by The Dye Store, a damaged or defective product, or applicable law requires otherwise.
12. Customer Accounts
Customers may have the option to create an account on TheDyeStore.com.
You are responsible for protecting your account credentials and for activity conducted through your account.
Please contact us if you believe your account has been accessed without authorization.
We reserve the right to restrict or suspend an account when reasonably necessary to address fraud, abuse, security concerns, or material violations of these Terms.
13. Website Use
TheDyeStore.com is provided for lawful shopping, educational, and informational purposes.
Users may not intentionally interfere with the operation or security of the website, attempt unauthorized access to accounts or systems, introduce malicious software, conduct fraudulent transactions, or otherwise misuse the website.
14. Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise indicated, original text, photographs, graphics, educational materials, dye guides, product descriptions, logos, branding, and other original content appearing on TheDyeStore.com are owned by or licensed to The Dye Store.
Our content may not be reproduced, republished, distributed, sold, or commercially exploited without permission except where permitted by applicable law.
15. Third-Party Services
The Dye Store works with third-party service providers to operate our business and website. These may include payment processors, shipping carriers, website hosting providers, email services, tax services, and other technology providers.
Those services may be subject to their own terms, policies, and privacy practices.
The Dye Store is not responsible for the independent operation or policies of third-party websites or services that we do not control.
16. Product Results and Warranties
We make reasonable efforts to provide accurate product descriptions and quality products.
However, dyeing is affected by materials, techniques, environmental conditions, and other variables outside our control. We therefore cannot guarantee that every project will produce exactly the same result as photographs, samples, tutorials, or previous dye batches.
Normal variations in natural materials, textiles, water chemistry, dyeing processes, and individual techniques are not considered defects solely because a resulting color or appearance differs from an example.
Nothing in these Terms eliminates warranties, remedies, or consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded.
17. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, The Dye Store is not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses arising from improper handling, failure to follow product instructions or safety information, use of a product for an unintended application, or project results that differ from expectations.
Customers are responsible for determining whether a product is suitable for their particular project and for following appropriate instructions and safety precautions.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
18. Privacy
Our collection, use, and protection of personal information are explained in our Privacy Policy.
The Privacy Policy should be read together with these Terms and Conditions.
19. Circumstances Outside Our Control
We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control, including severe weather, natural disasters, carrier disruptions, transportation interruptions, labor disruptions, utility or internet outages, governmental actions, supply interruptions, or similar events.
When an order is affected, we will make reasonable efforts to resolve the situation when circumstances permit.
20. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
21. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is determined to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect to the fullest extent permitted by law.
22. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms and Conditions periodically to reflect changes to our business, products, website, services, or policies.
When changes are made, the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page will be revised.
The version in effect when an order is placed generally applies to that transaction unless applicable law requires otherwise.
23. Contact Us
Questions about these Terms and Conditions can be submitted through The Dye Store’s Contact & Care page.
