Description
Alum is the most widely used mordant in natural dyeing. It bonds dye to fiber so the color survives washing and light. Use at around 15% of dry fiber weight for wool and silk. For cotton and linen, use a tannin pre-mordant first, then alum. Dissolve fully in hot water before adding fiber. Not for human or animal consumption.
